Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (Arabic: عبد العزيز بن سلمان بن عبد العزيز آل سعود‎) (born 1960) is a member of the House of Saud. He was the assistant oil minister of Saudi Arabia between 2005 and 2017. In April 2017, he was made state minister for energy affairs. On 8 September 2019 a royal decree was issued to appoint him as minister of energy, the first royal to hold this portfolio. King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is the King of Saudi Arabia and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. Prior to his appointment to throne he served as the Deputy Governor and then the Governor of Riyadh between 1963 and 2011. In 2011 he was appointed as defence minister and later named as Crown Prince following the death of his brother Prince Nayef.
