Longer video today to show what a quick training session looks and sounds like. Watch and listen as the efforts get harder round after round of hill climbs... Rude Tip 19475: Your sandcastle better have an umbrella when the sky opens up. Made an effort to get out before the rain got in. Didn’t quite make it the entire ride without rain, but still had a good effort or two. Gave Cam Nichols' hill climb training a go (link to video below). Only did 3 efforts because of the rain and evening meeting, but could see the benefits of it if done consistently. Cam's instructions are to use a power meter to monitor the effort, keeping yourself in the upper range of your FTP threshold. Seeing as I do not have a power meter yet, I focused on the other aspects of his instructions which were related to rpms. Keeping my rpms at 70-80 on a 3-9% .75 mile hill, and in the big ring, really got my heart rate up and legs burning. Looking at Strava afterwards, my estimated wattage for the segments increased each time but were not as high as I would have liked. First time getting after this type of effort, so cannot be too disappointed with it. I have a better idea of how to approach it next time, and there will be a next time. Definitely going to be working these into my normal weekly rides. ___________________________________________________________________________ Please like and subscribe!
