Tony teams up with @Klayton Fioriti to talk about a film that they believe is the perfect sword and sorcery film! The first big screen adaptation of the classic Robert E. Howard character, Conan The Barbarian. Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Earl Jones. Orphaned boy Conan (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is enslaved after his village is destroyed by the forces of vicious necromancer Thulsa Doom (James Earl Jones), and is compelled to push "The Wheel of Pain" for many years. Once he reaches adulthood, Conan sets off across the prehistoric landscape of the Hyborian Age in search of the man who killed his family and stole his father's sword. With beautiful warrior Valeria (Sandahl Bergman) and archer Subotai (Gerry Lopez), he faces a supernatural evil. @basementofmars19632 years ago Interesting little fact: they reused the same death scream when the guy gets the spike through the chest for the old sega genesis game golden axe. i love the first 2 terminator the milius/arnold commentary is a classic where arnold keeps talking about what the locals do with the grain from the wheel of pain and milius changes the subject:
go watch the milius documentary - he was a hell of a real character and a talent

s&s movies with awesome video covers?
deathstalker i, ii, the sword and the sorcerer
    conquest (1983)
the barbarians (aka the barbarian brothers)
    hawk the slayer
i kinda liked the bluescreen with conan' s father' s little talk, it gave a surreal, otherworldly backdrop to the scene, like it' s just evoking crom' s gloomy mountaintop world, rather than actually having climbed a high mountain in inadequate gear just to talk about gods and steel and stuff.
there was a " writing spells all over someone" in the japanese ghost stories movie kwaidan (1965) in the " hochi the earless" segment
