The Many Saints of Newark Ending Explained, The Many Saints of Newark ends pretty definitively *throat-slashing motion* for some characters. Are there enough left for another Sopranos prequel? In some of the spookiest words ever spoken on The Sopranos, the usually genial and optimistic Bobby “Bacala” Baccalieri Jr. wonders aloud what being killed would be like. “You probably don’t even hear it when it happens, right?” Bobby asks his boss Tony Soprano as they glide down a lazy river in a dinghy. #themanysaintsofnewark #endingexplained #sorpanos 00:00 Intro 00:13 Dickie Dead? 01:49 Pinky Promise? 02:49 The Sopranos Ending Subscribe To Our Channel: /c/MoviesVibes Movies Vibes thousands of videos on latest hollywood news, Reviews, Top 10 lists, Origins, Tips, How To’s, Reviews, Commentary and more on Pop Culture, Celebrity, Movies, Music, TV, Film, Video Games, Politics, News, Comics, Superheroes. @tabassummasood63113 years ago Even though i' m an ardent sopranos fan, i tried my level best to keep my expectations grounded prior to watching the many saints of newark. It' s beyond the nostalgic thrills of seeing familiar sets and locations, vera farmiga' s sensational turn as a younger livia soprano and michaelbrief (more on that shortly) but brilliant protrayal of the young anthony soprano, the many saints of newark plays like an extended flashback sequence from the show. It' s central character, dickie moltisante, isn' t overly interesting or, frankly, well-written. Several other characters including the patriarch, johnny soprano, areand criminally, for all the talk of michaeladolescent brilliance, his total screen time feels like it barely scrapes the fifteen minute mark. I also found the twist at the end to be particularly egregious and tacky, but i' ll spare you the details of that particular letdown.
as a standalone film perhaps its biggest failing is that the many saints of newark assumes that everyone watching it will be familiar with the source material. That is particularly ironic, as the lasting takeaway most fans will have coming out of this is that david chase has taken the basic outline of a great follow-up to one of the most beloved series to ever grace a television screen, attempted to cram it into a two hour movie and come up short

@waqarcpm43213 years ago My rating would be 2. 5 stars if they' d allow it. I tried to temper my expectations, but this prequel to the epic sopranos series seemed to be mostly the original series had an immediacy and pacing that was compelling. David chase created a milleu and peopled it to perfection. A prequel is frought with peril because he had to adhere to everything that happens in the future and still produce something compelling. Having christopher crying as a baby whenever he' s close to the young tony is compelling, having a character stating something like ' you know what they say, babies close to birth remember their future' is not. Also the choice to have the dead adult christopher narrate while adding little asides like ' even though he choked me to death' referring to tony, was a little over the top. The same with silvio' s performance where the actor seemed more interested in hunching over and grimacing as if he were rich little doing jimmy cagny on the ed sullivan show.
ray liotta was a servicable soprano patriarch, freed of any expectations, but i liked his other performance as the jailed brother much more, playing the fool so to speak, as the unfettered conscience for dickie moltisanti. A fool who wants miles davis records, but rejects al hirt as ' not jazz' this is the kind of story telling that chase spoiled us with for six seasons. Maybe if he had been given another season or two, or more, he could have taken his time, like better call saul and breaking bad. Trying to fit the seething black turmoil of the 60' s, along with racial animus, along with so many twisted familial relationship arcs into two hours is a thankless task.
alessandro nivola, leslie odom jr. And michela de rossi are the three prime movers of this film, none of whom were constrained by portrayals in the original series, but their love triangle consisted of a time worn trope. While michela brought a great deal of passion to her role, i was never completely sold by either nivola or odom as gangsters. Once again, maybe if this had been allowed more time, both characters might have flourished.
vera famiga always disappears into her roles as one of the finest actors alive today, maybe i missed the nuance, but i never got that level of menace that was always simmering beneath the surface in nancy marchand' s portrayal of livia.
i didn' t regret watching this film. There was enough there to keep me involved, but it rarely equalled the same minute by minute viewing ectasy that the original series provided. I think the best tribute to david chase is that the many saints of newark has convinced me to watch the entire original series again

@andrew_47473 years ago The movie is enjoyable, i like the twist at the end but the faults i have are: 1) it' s not in the sopranosin that the setting doesn' t fit well with how the show was done, 2) they retconned some things like silvio was supposed to be tony' s age since they were in a young crew together with jackie aprile and ralph cifaretto, 3) the early promo material made it look like it would be the story of young tony soprano so it set people' s expectations wrong. 4) they didn' t resolve leslie odom jr. #39; s characters story in a meaningful way. ...Expand 1

@justwatcher56573 years ago This movie was really good ive seen the trailer for this movie quite a few times so i thought it looks alright so i went to watch it and yeah it was g but yeah their are some really goodin this movie and you have john bernthal in this movie and he plays tony sopranos father and he plays his role very good and you also have micheal gandolfini in this movie too who plays tony soprano and i have never heard of his actor before but he sure plays tony soprano very well.
so overall i would recommend this movie even if you dont think if this is your kind of movie or not i would still recommend seeing this movie because you might really enjoy it or not but just give it a watch because you never know

@waqarmasood62523 years ago The 1980 moviewas a way better mob movie than this, and that featured a middle-aged female and a hispanic kid, but that was a real
this doesn' t even look like a 1/2-way decent pc game. The color is bad for one thing. Maybe shoot with a samsung note or a new iphone for better color next time? It would make a movie a lot better. The color was not good in this movie.
more than half the time in this movie i couldn' t keep track of who was who and what exactly was going on. They can have cars and clothes from that period but that does not make a good movie. I do not think the actors fit for what they were hired to do, except jr. Soprano. He seemed just like the jr we saw in the series when they had the flashback scenes.
the moment when tony' s dad got out of prison he was picked up by jr. On the way back to see tony and the family the dad starts whining about what was going on in the neighborhood. I muted the movie.
then tony' s dad starts whining some more once he steps foot into his house, and i muted the movie again. Then the movie goes to some stage play and i muted it again.
then the movie goes back to tony' s house and the color of the movie is weird and odd. Why make a movie look so bad? Blue and hazy. Helped to ruin this movie. Can' t they just film a movie with normal colors? Nowhere in the world is the color like this movie.
now there is more whining with dickie and his wife in this movie. I have no idea who played dickie, but he looks like a high school kid in 2010 pretending to be italian. It just does not work. And the whining.
they had a mister softie truck in the movie then bunch of high school kids threaten the adult male and throw him out of the truck. Sure okay. Ridiculous. Looks stupid to me. A bunch of children grab an adult male then threaten him, drive down the road, and give ice cream to kids. Lame.
just saw a shooting in the movie. The blood was seen about one second after the shot. As realistic as the magic bullet from jfk. Now we are in the bedroom with a black couple. Nobody cares except hillary clinton and other race hustlers. But it helps make this a bad movie.
now a shooting in the middle of the road. And is typical of a bad movie, right when one of the guys runs, his buddy yells for him, and of course the guy was shot. Worse than a college play. Really.
and same scene a vw van drives by, gets into a fender bender and bursts into flames. Sure okay.
still a 1/2 hour to go in this mess. Maybe it' s me that has the eye problems, and the color and blurriness is, okay? No, it is the movie.
and they have a scene of jr after he fell. And his back hurts. I just do not care. Now we are back to the black actors. I have no idea who they are or what they are doing.
this movie is a disaster. Looks like pandering to race hustlers, pandering to people who like terrible color films, pandering to people who like to watch movie in a weird silly haze. Now at a beach. Clown show even screwed up the beach sky. The sky does not look like that.
i just leave a lot of this on mute because i just do not care about anyone in this movie.
go watchfrom 1980 if you want an awesome mob movie. There they have mob guys and a godfather who just sits and listens and never speaks
